Testing 1-2-3: Abstract Impressionist Floral

This pint-sized painting was part of some practice pieces I did using the “Sgraffito” technique, before teaching it to my acrylic-landscape class. Sgraffito involves scraping through the wet acrylic paint to reveal a different colored layer beneath it. Anything can be used as the scraping tool, a palette knife, the back of a brush, or even a kitchen spatula. Brightly-colored, finger-painted flowers add to the cheerful, springtime mood of this lively little piece. (Because it’s so small, I had to paint them with my pinky!)
